Autism Therapy

…close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar, and you’ll live as you’ve never lived before.

SOAR is the premier provider of ABA therapy for autism in Coeur d’Alene.

So what is ABA?

ABA takes the basic approach of Habilitative Intervention and improves upon it tenfold. You can think of ABA as HI-plus.

ABA practitioners are all:

  • board certified by the behavior analyst certification board
  • trained beyond the basic approach of HI
  • specially trained in autism and behavior change

ABA is also covered by your medical insurance because it’s considered the gold-standard of treatment for autism and other developmental disabilities.

Assessment

Our process starts with an assessment, completed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) where we learn everything we can about your child and their world.

We’ll ask you a lot, but one of the most important questions we’ll have for you is “what are your big goals for ABA therapy?” We want to make sure your child succeeds and you see results. From teaching kids to talk or use the restroom, to social skills, making friends, and navigating interpersonal relationships, SOAR does it all.

After we’ve done a complete review of all of your childs records, caregiver interviews, and standardized testing, we put together a highly individualized treatment plan. After we’ve written the plan, we’ll go over all of your childs proposed goals and make sure they make sense to you. Got anything to add? We’ll do it right there. Then, once everything is finalized…

Treatment

Next, we introduce you and your child to your team of highly trained Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who work under your BCBA. We begin with a “pairing” phase. Pairing is where we form a relationship with your child and get to learn their likes and dislikes. It might look like play, and thats because it is. However we have a very specific purpose in mind: to get your child to enjoy therapy time.

In the beginning, our goal is to get your kid to like being around us. Because kids learn better when they like their instructors. Throughout therapy, you’ll see all of our therapists using an iPad to collect data. We use this data to make changes to goals, keep you updated, and ensure your child is successful. Also, every 6 months, we will re-assess your child and make any necessary changes to the plan. Our goal is to have a meaningful impact on your childs life.
